DESCRIPTION:Student visual artist\, Mr. Clive Ka-lun LEE (PhD in education) is organising a community engaged visual arts exhibition\, “RESILIENCE: Farewell” to invite participants to contribute in co-creation and say goodbye to the feelings about COVID 19 and welcome a new page. \nArtist will also be on site to invite audience to bring their own materials in letting go any emotions through a process of four its – “facing it\, dealing with it\, accepting it\, and letting it go”\, as an encountering of well-being and resilience in the unique site of the university at this special moment.  The relationship between artist and audience co-create this unique moment of  “Ichigo Ichie” with relational aesthetics. \n  \nThe exhibition also showcases an artistic documentation of projects Clive previously facilitated during the pandemic with different walks of life\, e.g. ethnic minorities\, students with autism spectrum disorder\, women with unplanned pregnancy\, ex-drug addicts\, university students\, and others. \n  \n“RESILIENCE: Farewell” is jointly supported by Common Core Office\, HKU-CEDARS F.A.C.E. subsidy and Equal Opportunity Unit to encourage student-initiated projects.

While there are questions and issues around academic honesty\, plagiarism\, creativity\, and originality – the potential to enhance student learning is substantial. \nJoin us for this hands-on workshop as we demonstrate the possibilities of text generation (GPT-3) and text-to-image applications (Stable Diffusion\, Midjourney\, DALL-E-2). SUMMARY:Climate Week (August 22-28\, 2022)
DESCRIPTION:NESS is organising a Climate week from 22nd to 28th August 2022 to raise the awareness for climate change and sustainable development in Hong Kong. We aim to mobilise the youth community and advance sustainable transition by operating as an interactive platform to gather ideas\, and inspiring ideation for the wider community. Collaborating with social enterprises\, businesses\, and organisations\, we have put up a wide range amazing IN-PERSON sessions for you to gain a better understanding of climate change and its relation to us all. \nWithin the first 2 days of Climate Week\, we are bringing back Hong Kong Climate Emergency Summit (HKCES) 2022 to turn knowledge into actions. It focuses on capacity building for youth aged 15-24 in taking climate actions in various aspects\, With workshops ranging from climate journalism\, and policy response to digital communication and design thinking\, we aim to showcase the diversity of climate action and enable them find their own climate action. DESCRIPTION:Abstract of Talk: \nThis seminar will provide a brief introduction to Animoca Brands\, the metaverse\, and the concept of Play-to-Earn\, Game-Fi\, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT). It will also showcase well-known blockchain games like Sandbox\, REVV Racing\, and Axie Infinity. The session will conclude with a Q&A. For students\, the seminar is an opportunity to propose and initiate a project through the Common Core (in collaboration with Animoca) to explore gaming\, blockchain\, and the metaverse. The outcome of your project will be judged by Animoca and potentially lead to a paid internship or graduate career opportunity. \nAbout the speaker: \nZaf Chow is an HKU graduate and the Director of Digital Strategy and Partnerships of Animoca Brands. She currently spearheads the Play-to-Earn field and working on multiple projects around NFTs\, Metaverses\, and Web3.0. \nAnimoca Brands is one of Hong Kong’s fastest growing enterprises and is valued at over USD 2.2 billion. SUMMARY:The Critical Engagement of Higher Education with Future Crises
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Adrian Lam\, Common Core Course Tutor and Research Group Member \nThis contemporary world is no stranger to crises of all kinds\, for instance\, the outbreak of the COVD-19 pandemic since late 2019. Nonetheless\, the higher education sector has been regrettably slow and stagnant in the wake of these crises. Lamentably\, the contemporary higher education sector could and should contribute in many ways\, but have failed to do so. This presentation will mainly discuss three aspects of higher education – curriculum design\, learner empowerment\, and interdisciplinarity – arguing what went wrong and what should be further changed. In particular\, the presentation will also consider the potentials of the Common Core Curriculum at the University of Hong Kong in leading and facilitating the changes. All these transformations will be essential in shaping a more sustainable and resilient higher education system under the “new normal”. \nAdrian Lam graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Pedagogy\, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education in Secondary English\, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies and Politics and Public Administration.
