Global Consultants: Researching Social Impact

The Common Core will be facilitating an undergraduate policy consultancy as a co-curricular programme in collaboration with the University of Birmingham (UoB) in the UK, from 1 November to 6 December 2022 (5 weeks). Student teams from UoB’s LANS (Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences) From Research To Policy I course will formulate multidisciplinary reports on social issues important to the West Midlands and Birmingham region.

HKU undergraduate students will provide feedback for the UoB student projects about how their projects might be enhanced by (inter)disciplinary approaches and additional perspectives from Hong Kong and Asia. As part of this work, HKU students will be introduced to social policy analysis, practice applying basic analytical frameworks to case studies, and interact with each other, facilitators, and the UoB students. HKU students will need to deliver a consultancy report and host a consultation meeting.

The programme schedule is as follows (via Zoom):

Tue 1 November 2022, 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Tue 8 November 2022,
10:00 am – 11:30 am

Tue 22 November 2022,

Tue 29 November 2022, 10:00 am – 11:30 am
