CCHU9058

The final session of the Common Core course “CCHU9058 – Nature in the City: Beyond the Concrete Jungle” took place at the end of July, featuring an exhibition of 72 metaphorical tree posters created by the students.

As one student remarked, “This is a fun course… the assignments allow us the flexibility to create and express our own intentional thinking.” CCHU9058 offers an exciting opportunity for students to delve into the relationship between nature and the city. The course structure encourages students to explore their own perspectives on various issues related to this intersection.

This summer semester course is divided into three main components: “Survey,” “Analysis,” and “Design.” Mr. Coates, the course coordinator, guided students on a “how to read the city” field trip to Sai Ying Pun. During this excursion, students traversed a cross-section of the area, from the edge of Lung Fu Shan Country Park to the harbor front at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. Other interactive activities included the ‘Interconnections Game,’ where students illustrated the interconnectedness of human endeavors.
