CHALKBOARD By Red Ink and Chalk (RIAC) Red Ink and Chalk is a research group dedicated to widen the limits of student-led inquiry and accountability in education. RIAC is a platform for students to explore their passions and research interests, taking teaching and learning one step further. We are a collection of keen researchers and learners who support one another in our mutual endeavours. A big congratulations to team SAGA on winning the Most Collaborative Award of U21 RISE! Led by HKU students Yingqi Wang, Ran Ju, Xiaoran Luo, and Jiayi Hu, the team is dedicated to developing educational support for children with leukemia, ensuring they can continue learning during treatment and uphold their right to a quality education. As part of their achievement, they will receive a prize of $2,000 USD to further develop their project. Urban Futures: Hong Kong with Arup

Dear all, We want to thank everyone who participated in the transdisciplinary project in collaboration with Arup’s Foresight Team to explore emerging issues shaping the future of Hong Kong. This project provided an opportunity for undergraduate students from all disciplines to undertake original research and develop key skills in critical thinking and visual communication. We hope that the project helped participants gain unique perspectives on Hong Kong’s future and contributed to their personal and academic growth. Short Film Competition – UNLEASHING INFINITE POSSIBILITIES

Enter your short films into HKU’s Short Film Festival! Selected films will be publicly featured at the Festival in Tai Kwun. Awardees will share in total prizes of HK$2,000 and the chance to showcase their work at the Movies in Wonderland Festival in Austria. This year, we are exploring “Unleash Infinite Possibilities”, a theme highlighting Artificial Intelligence’s transformative potential in filmmaking and creative production. CALL FOR TRANSDISCIPLINARY UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROPOSALS (2023/24)

The TransDisciplinary Undergraduate Research Project is an opportunity for an individual or small groups of undergraduate students to pursue funded research on a topic of their own choosing. U21 RISE (Real Impact on Society and Environment) 2023/24

U21 RISE (Real Impact on Society and Environment) is an international video competition for student teams to showcase their projects related to sustainability and social innovation. Winning teams will be awarded a prize of USD 2,000 each, together with access to a global network of experts in academia and industry to help scale their projects. New Know How – deTour 2023

  deTour 2023 – design festival is back with “New Know How” from 24 November to 3 December. This year, curators Kay Chan Wan Ki, Chi-wing Lee and STICKYLINE delve deep into the heart of local crafts, examining their glorious past and envisioning a future that bridges old and new.
