The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is a prestigious international competition where students from different parts of the world develop and present their own Synthetic Biology projects at the annual jamboree.  HKU’s iGEM Team consists of a group of undergraduate students who will undergo research during the summer to execute the project they design. Over the past decade, HKU iGEM team has proudly received 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. New members are recruited every year from different cohorts and different faculties. We also aim to provide a platform to engage in and develop synthetic biology that is accessible for all students.
